About the Event

Tai Chi and Qigong are moving meditations rooted in traditional Chinese medicine. These

holistic health practices combine postural alignment, relaxed breathing, and focusing of the

mind along with gentle movement of the body. Taichi and Qigong practice supports

improvements in balance, energy flow and stress management with multiple benefits for both

physical and mental health. There are many different types of Tai Chi and Qigong exercises that

can be practiced sitting, standing, walking and even lying down. Whether you have 5 minutes or

25 minutes to practice, there is a wide range of Tai Chi and Qigong movements that you can

integrate in your everyday life to improve your energy, health, and overall sense of well-being.

Tai Chi Easy, Eight-Organ Harmony Qigong, and Six Healing Sounds.

Tai Chi Easy consists of a sequence of 5 movements, integrating the upper and lower body with a slow, meditative walk. The eight-organ harmony practices includes movements to strengthen the 5 main organ areas (lung, kidney, liver, spleen, heart) and the three main energy centers of the body. When practicing the six healing sounds, we use breath and voice to create vibrational healing energy for the body.

Facilitator: Aisling O’Shea

As a Certified Integral Qigong Teacher and Tai Chi Easy TM Practice Leader, Aisling’s goal is to help others develop a regular practice that promotes relaxation, improves energy and strengthens the mind and body’s capacity for stress

management and self-healing. Aisling has been learning and practicing various forms of Tai Chi and Qigong for more thantwenty years. Her teachers include Laurie Demers, with whom she studied Tai Chi (Yang long form) and Dr. DeGuang He, with whom she studied Medical Qigong. Aisling completed a Tai Chi Easy TM Practice Leader training with Dr. Roger Janke at the Omega Institute in Rhinebeck NY as well as other medical qigong courses and teacher training with the Institute of Integral Qigong and Tai Chi. From her earliest introduction to Tai Chi and Qi Gong, Aisling resonated with the principles and practices that draw from our interconnectedness with nature and the energy within and around us. Nature and healing are at the core of Aisling’s environmental work also where she focuses on restoration and preservation of healthy, self-sustaining aquatic ecosystems.
