Background
Death and dying is oftentimes a difficult topic to talk about. Navigating this journey is essential to embrace the fullness of this human experience and having open conversations about mortality can help us deal with the inevitability of death.
How is the day structured?
This will be a gentle interactive day in the beautiful surroundings of Glendalough. Topics that will be covered include: The dying process; Death anxiety; How people react to a terminal diagnosis; Grief and loss. A light lunch will be provided and there will be time for talking, sharing views and a walk in the outdoor beauty of the sanctuary’s surroundings.

Who is Bríd McCarthy: Bríd is a Registered General Nurse who works in the area of palliative care. Having
completed a MSc in gerontological nursing, Bríd developed a strong interest in palliative
care. She is passionate about living well with life limiting conditions. Bríd is now a third
year PhD candidate, and her research is in palliative care.
