About the Event

Elena Rodriguez from Soul In Hands, a bodywork therapist and somatic movement teacher will explore the anatomy and movement of this area in relationship with the rest of the system of our complex body focusing in:

  •  The hands, “the ambassadors of love”
  •  The arms, “the wings of the heart”
  •  The ribcage, “the protector of the energy and living body”

In many traditions, the heart centre is considered the centre of our emotional body. One of the important aspects of the Heart Centre (Anatomically the Chest) is its role as a bridge between the Mind Centre (Head) and the Physical Centre (Pelvis). When the chest is compressed it impairs the connection between the pelvis and the head, we might lose our sense of grounding, which makes us more vulnerable to falling, or we might notice that we kick our body against every furniture in the house, ... When we don’t feel this area, our emotions and thoughts take over, and it is common to feel anxiety. Problems in the chest can cause pain in other areas, like the neck, shoulders and lower back. We need to reorganise our whole systemic body to stop identifying the self from our thoughts and

emotions and our pain. 

In this day workshop you are invited to explore movement differently. The answer is to pay attention to our sensations through movement and to move in a way that feels safe. In contrast with fitness modalities, we don’t do mechanical exercises to achieve a fitness outcome, but an aware exploration to work with the nervous system to

regulate our whole body creating new possibilities of movement.
